Counselling and Clinical Psychologist
I am a Perth-based psychologist providing individual psychotherapy services to adults in Highgate, Western Australia.
Fees and Rebates
50 minute sessions are charged at $260. I also offer a $240 session fee for current concession card holders. The Australian Psychological Society recommended rate for psychology sessions is currently $318, so I aim to keep my fees well below this.
You do not need a referral to access psychology services, however if you obtain a GP Mental Health Care Plan you are able to access up to 10 medicare rebatable session for the calendar year under the Medicare Better Access initiative. This will allow you to access a rebate of $149.05 per session. Medicare rebates can be processed at the same time as payment.
You may also be able to access psychology services under private health insurance extras. Please check with your provider, and request a copy of the session invoice from me so that you can lodge it with them.
I also accept referrals from DVA clients, NDIS clients who are self-managed or plan-managed, and Insurance.
About Me
I take a client-centred approach to therapy, with a focus on building a strong working alliance with my clients and drawing on evidence-based treatments to work collaboratively towards goals my clients find most meaningful. I work pluralistically, drawing on various models of therapy as needed, including Schema Therapy, EMDR, Interpersonal Therapy, Existential Therapy, CBT/DBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
As a clinician, my style is to be authentic, compassionate, curious and non-judgemental. I work with presenting issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD/CPTSD, relationship issues, family of origin concerns/adverse childhood experiences, adjustment, stress, life transitions, grief, and I like to build a shared understanding with people about their presenting issues in the context of their life experiences.
How long does therapy take?
This varies depending on your goals for therapy, and presenting issues. It will also be impacted by factors such as your earlier life experiences, readiness, and willingness to implement change outside of the therapy room. If you are seeking skills-based symptom reduction, therapy will likely be much shorter term than working with long-standing patterns and core beliefs. The important thing for you to know is that as a client, you have choice and control in deciding on what you want to work on, and when, and I encourage open discussions about this as we go to make sure we are on track for what you want coming in.
